Tawny Port is the classic cask style that Tasmanian whisky built its name on over the last thirty years. We predominately source our casks from South Australia, and love the plum pudding and spice notes that these sweet fortified wines bring to our whisky. We also mature our port casks for a longer period of time (5.5-6 years in 100L casks) to make sure we achieve optimum integration between the cask and the spirit. This allows us to produce a fully integrated whisky, rather than a spirit that layers port flavour on top of the new make spirit.

Cask Type: Australian Tawny Port

Age: No age statement. Usually ~5.5 - 6 years in quarter casks (100L-125L)

Nose: Dominated by sweet and fruity elements with undertones of rum and raisin chocolate adding depth.
Palate: Welcomes the soft yet wonderfully warming spirit with deep dark fruits and pantry spices dancing together to create a mouth-filling experience that only a tawny cask can deliver.
The finish is beautifully supported by the late arrival of the soft oak tannins and hints of dark chocolate and coffee grounds.
